The City of Chattanooga Department of Public Works announces the following project and program updates.
Christmas and New Year Holiday Garbage and Recycle collection and site schedule:

Garbage and Recycle collection scheduled for Christmas Day, Monday, Dec. 25 will be collected on Tuesday, Dec. 26. Collection for both garbage and recycle will be delayed one day, meaning garbage and recycle collection will run Tuesday through Saturday. Please place containers along the curbside before 7 a.m. on collection day to ensure pickup. Garbage and Recycle collection scheduled for New Year's Day, Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, will be collected as normal, no change.
The City Landfill off of Birchwood Pike in Harrison, the Household Hazardous Waste Facility and Wood Recycle Center will be closed Monday, Dec. 25, as well as Monday, Jan. 1, for Christmas and New Year’s. The Wood Recycle Center will be reopen Tuesday, Dec. 26, and Tuesday, Jan. 2, for normal business hours.
The Refuse Collection Centers and Recycle Collection Centers will be closed Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24, and Christmas Day, Monday, Dec. 25, and will reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 26. The Refuse Collection Centers and Recycle Collection Centers will also we closed on New Year’s Day, Monday, Jan. 1, reopening on Tuesday, Jan. 2, for normal business hours.

Holmberg Bridge
Construction is set to begin in about five weeks. We have given the Holmberg Bridge books to the contractor to obtain their bonds and insurance, once those are back-we will route for signatures. All labor, materials, and incidentals related to the fabrication, delivery, and installation of 74 stainless steel panels per project specifications and dimensions. Installation will require the removal of existing glass panels from the Holmberg Bridge and the replacement of those panels with the fabricated stainless steel panels per the project specifications.
Paving Repairs
This week, street maintenance crews plan to begin pavement repairs on the 1700 block of 13th Street and the 2100 block of E 28th Street. (Council District 8)
Stormwater Repairs
Crews have installed a twenty four (24) inch drainage system to replace the damaged clay pipe on W 40th Street at the Grand Avenue. This project is expected to be completed Friday, December 22, 2017. (Council District 7)
