Lee Men Release Soccer Schedule Under New Head Coach

New Lee men's soccer head coach Derek Potteiger has released the 2017 schedule. His reign officially begins on Aug. 31 when the Flames host Anderson College (S.C.) for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Flames will quickly turn around and bring an old rival, Trevecca Nazarene to town on Sept. 1 (7 p.m.). Before beginning the regular season Lee will take part in scrimmages against Tennessee Wesleyan, Dalton State and Concorde Fire U18.
 
Potteiger's club will board the bus and head for Daytona Beach, Fla.
, and be tested by South Region opponents Palm Beach Atlantic and Embry-Riddle. The Flames will host one more non-conference foe, Young Harris College, before entering Gulf South Conference play.
 
GSC action kickoffs at the Lee Soccer Field on Sept. 15 when Delta State visits for a 5 p.m. contest, followed by Mississippi College on Sept. 17 (4 p.m.) The Delta State date is a part of the annual Kickin' It For Kids With Cancer evening.
 
All totaled the Flames have five other GSC home dates, including the annual battle with West Florida on Oct. 20. The final regular season home game is Oct. 22 against Alabama Huntsville (4 p.m.) with the regular season finale on Oct. 25 at Tusculum College (7 p.m.).
 
"I am really looking forward to the upcoming season.  We do have a good schedule and am particularly anticipating some real key matchups on our schedule," commented coach Potteiger after scanning over his first Lee Soccer slate. "I think more than anything I can't wait to just see our guys compete.
 
"I thought we had a really significant spring together and I am hoping that leads to a positive experience this fall," he added. "I do think it's a good schedule, I am looking forward to learning more about these opponents and in particular the GSC, but mostly this season is going to be about Lee and pushing our identity and vision as collective group."

Government Paid Almost $181,000 In Social Security Benefits To Sewanee Man After He Died In 1988; Hawkins Charged With Embezzlement

The Social Security Administration paid almost $181,000 in benefits to a Sewanee man after he died in 1988, federal prosecutors said. The government learned in 2014 that the money designated to Walter Acton was going to a man living in his home at 3932 Jump Off Road - Edward Hawkins.
