A woman told police that her 36-year-old son locked her in her basement, while breaking into a safe upstairs and taking cash and drugs.

Ryan Kurtz, of 2426 Haven Crest Dr., is charged with six counts of theft of property, domestic assault, false imprisonment and interference with emergency calls.

In the incident on Aug. 10, the mother said she and her son argued. She said he then grabbed her phone and ran upstairs. She said he placed a board across the door to barricade her in the basement.

While she worked to free herself, she said her son used a mallet to gain entry to the safe. She said he took between $600 and $700 and some hydrocodone pills.

He also took the keys to her 2006 Mercedes E350.

Signal Mountain Should Be Problem Solvers Around The City

What I'm worried about is why Signal Mountain has not yet had the guts to go be problem solvers at Howard, or Tyner, or Central. Why do ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: How Would I Vote?

I don’t know what to think or who to believe in the debacle surrounding Alabama’s Roy Moore and his quest for a Senate seat. I have no earthly idea what he did or how he acted 40 years ago.
