Elsea Charged With Injuring Girlfriend, Her Puppy

A 25-year-old Soddy Daisy man has been charged with injuring her girlfriend and her puppy.

Mitchell Elsea, of 1699 Fineout Dr., was charged with domestic assault, false imprisonment and cruelty to animals.

In the incident on Saturday, a deputy located Elsea on the porch of his residence. He said he had been in a verbal disorder with his girlfriend. He could not explain large scratches to the right side of his face.

The girlfriend, who was at a neighbor's house, said he became infuriated her with over the ocuple's finances. She said he grabbed her by her arms and dragged her into the back bedroom. She said he then struck her in the chest, causing her to fall to the floor. 

At this point, she said Elsea grabbed her eight-week-old puppy and raised it high above his head. He then threw the puppy against the hardwood floor.

She said she was able to calm Elsea, and they both went to sleep. The next morning, she said she sneaked out of the bedroom and was trying to leave with the injured puppy when Elsea grabbed her by her hair and threw her on the front porch.

She said she was able to scream, and a neighbor called for help.

A deputy said the puppy was limping so the Humane Society was called. A HES officer said the dog appeared to have a broken rear leg.
