Latoya Stamper

Latoya Janae Stamper has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at H&M Books on S. Creek Road off Amnicola Highway. The female clerk was tied up and had her mouth duct taped.

Ms. Stamper, 38, of 107 N. Larchmont Ave., was charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping.

In the incident on March 16, the clerk said a black female wearing a wig and a black male with his face covered entered the store and demanded money at gunpoint. The male had a black revolver.

The clerk was ordered to open the safe. She did so and put money from the safe in a bag the pair brought with them.

Both suspects then ran toward the car that was parked on the next lot. It was described as a goldish-yellow Hyundai.

The clerk said the same female without a wig had come into the store earlier that day to return some books. She was driving a goldish-yellow Hyundai.

The clerk said the same woman had made prior calls to the store, including once when she said she was running late but would get there before they closed. Police were able to use the phone numbers to track back to Ms. Stamper.

The clerk picked her out of a photo lineup.
