Thursday, April 5, 2018 - by Gail Perry

Two new restaurants adjacent to one another were given approval to sell beer by the City Beer Board on Thursday. Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar, 1924 Gunbarrel Road Suite #104, is a “chef inspired burger bar,” said owner Burnham Jackson. It is a family establishment but also would like to have the option of selling beer, wine and liquor. Hours on Sunday through Thursday are from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, it will be open from 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

The patios where food is served outdoors, of Big Daddy’s and Mission BBQ, 1926 Gunbarrel Road, are next to each other but are separated by a fence. This location of Mission BBQ is one in a chain of several of the restaurants that are opening across Tennessee. They have a military and first responder’s theme and décor, and make donations to related causes. It was described as a family-friendly place with 99 percent of sales being food and just one percent beer. The restaurant with the capacity to seat 150 will be open from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Crazy Buffet, 5104 Hixson Pike, will be opening in the old Ryan’s building next week. This will be a Chinese and Japanese restaurant with 10 hot bars, a salad bar, a sushi bar with about 25 types available, and a hibachi grill. The large, 10,000-square-foot building has a 396-person capacity. It will be open seven days a week. Hours are from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. Until 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Your Pie-Express Your Inner Pizza will be opening April 9 at 1919 Gunbarrel Road, Suite #103. This is a pizza franchise with a create-your-own-pie concept. A beer license was approved so the beverage can be sold to complement the pizza. The restaurant with a capacity of 84 will be open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. during the week and open until 10 p.m. on Fridays.
