Equity Study - And Response

What exactly is an Equity Study? Is the the damage control that comes in the wake of the UnifiEd outburst a few weeks ago?

I can save the board a whole lot of hassle since the mere mention of doing such a study means that the study will reveal inequities, regardless of any basis.

If they would like to throw a quarter million down the drain for 20 pages of "yeah, we could be better.
..," please remit payment to:

Tim Giordana is exactly correct. If you are going to pay $290,000 for a study about inequality, you can bet they will find some. I have asked on many occasions for a list of inequities. The only answer I get is, "there are many." To that I say, "Just give me the top five."

The School Board voted Thursday night to approve giving $290,000 to a group we know hardly anything about to help facilitate discussions about inequity in our schools. No one knows (or so we were told) where the money is coming from to pay them.

Where the money comes from is very important. You can facilitate the discussions in any direction to achieve any outcome you want. Do you really think any of these consulting type groups is going to bite the hand that feeds them?

Bottom line is this, HCDE has a Chief Equity Officer and has appointed an Equity Task Force. Is it really necessary for an out-of-town firm to come in and identify inequities? Surely, if these inequities are as glaring as we are being told they are, they would have already been identified.

A very wise friend once told me, 'Consultants look at your watch and tell you what time it is."

Bothersome Robo Calls

I receive several (three or more) scammer calls, insurance offers, credit card monitoring services, security services, unknown callers, etc., every day. They come in mostly on my home number but those coming to my cell number seem to be increasing.  Those are mostly unknown callers, no number so you can't block them.  Googling the numbers sometimes confirms they are ... Civil War II

These same people have been around with us for a very long time. See Ecclesiastes Chapter 10 Verse 2. " The wise man's understanding turns him to his right; the fool's understanding turns him to the left. Thus says the Lord." The rest of the chapter is also worth reading. Democrats, Liberals, Progressives are all the same, the only thing they want is power over people since they ... (click for more)

Silverdale's Chase Cook Inks Scholarship With Bryan College

When Gray Ange arrived at Silverdale Baptist Academy two years ago to take over the baseball program one of the first players he heard about was the so-called crafty lefthander Chase Cook. “Most left-handed pitchers who are not your typical velocity guys get tagged with that ‘crafty’ description because they make a living throwing off speed to spots. They find ways to ... (click for more)

Fairyland Swimmers Upset Country Club

The Fairyland Flash had their best swim meet of the season at home Tuesday night when they beat the Country Club Wavemakers by a single point, handing the visitors their first loss of the season after four straight wins. Country Club had prevailed by a lopsided 466-322 margin just last Thursday, but the Flash was more than ready for the competition the second time around. ... (click for more)
