Jadarius Knox, 23, said 21-year-old Aaron Biddle threw a jar at him, and then punched him before he shot and killed him on Basswood Driver on Saturday afternoon.

Knox was located at the scene and charged with criminal homicide.

The Chattanooga Police Department responded around 3:45 p.m. to the 7800 block of Basswood Drive on reports of a person who had been shot. Upon arrival, police were able to locate the victim who had succumbed to his injuries.

Knox was detained by police immediately upon their arrival.

A woman who owns the residence said Biddle, her ex-boyfriend, came to the house to pick up his belongings.

She said Knox, her baby's father, was at the home at the time.

The woman said after Biddle loaded his belongings in his car he attempted to start an argument with Knox. She said Biddle then ran into her residence and started punching Knox.

She said Knox ran outside, where he pointed a gun at Biddle. She said Biddle then asked, "What are you going to do - shoot me?" She said Knox then shot Biddle.

Knox gave a similar account. He said Biddle tried to argue with him, but he did not respond. He said Biddle then threw a jar at him while he was on the couch playing X-Box. He said Biddle then ran in and started punching him. Knox said he did not fight back, but went outside.

He said he shot Biddle when he approached him and asked if he was going to shoot.

It happened between parked cars at the residence.
